UKA (Partial Knee Replacement) has one of the best forgotten joint indexes among all Arthroplasty surgeries. With minimal tissue dissection and conserving all ligaments, the results are fantastic in properly indicated patients.
Recently at Lucknow, a dedicated meeting was organised by KGMU Medical College where I was invited as a faculty to present our experiences in performing Unicondylar Knee Arthroplasty.
A dedicated academic meeting on Unicondylar Knee Arthroplasty (UKA) / Partial Knee Replacement was successfully organised on 26th April 2026 at King George’s Medical University, bringing together renowned orthopaedic surgeons, faculty members, and delegates from across the country.
The event focused on the evolving role of Partial Knee Replacement in modern knee arthroplasty and highlighted the excellent functional outcomes achievable in properly selected patients.

The meeting served as an important platform for sharing clinical experiences, discussing surgical techniques, and understanding advancements in knee preservation procedures.
One of the key discussion points during the conference was the concept of the “Forgotten Joint Index”, where patients often become less aware of the operated joint in day-to-day activities due to the natural feel and function achieved after UKA surgery.
The conference was exceptionally well organised and witnessed enthusiastic participation from orthopaedic professionals nationwide. The interactive discussions and exchange of surgical experiences contributed significantly toward advancing knowledge in knee arthroplasty and joint preservation techniques.
Such academic initiatives continue to promote evidence-based orthopaedic practice and help improve patient outcomes in knee replacement surgery.
